Dorothy, Gale & Barry

Barry's cousin, Debra, took this picture of me and Barry with his Mom last weekend. I like it.

Big Brutus

Barry and I traveled to see Big Brutus, the world's largest electric coal shovel. You can read more about it HERE and see more of our photos HERE.

Family

When you get married you get more family. I really enjoy visits with my sister-in-law, Karen.

Sophie in the garden

Sophie and I are looking forward to working in the gardens this year. Yesterday we potted a few plants for the front porch. Today we'll finish mulching the tree rings in the front yard. She loves being outside and you can almost always find her relaxing on the lounge chair.

Great recipe web site

I miss living in the south - especially the food. When I first moved here I tried to find someone that grew turnip greens. I was told of one farmer that did - but for his pigs. GASP! I guess many people don't eat them out this way. I can get them frozen and so I make do.

Not long ago I stumbled upon the Southern Plate web site. I'm so glad I did. Where else can you find fried bologna sandwiches and sweet tea! It's like a walk down memory lane. I sure miss my Mama and her wonderful cooking.

Drop by and pick a recipe for dinner. You'll be glad you did.

Picnic at Lake Scott State Park

I am going through my pictures and came across this one. Last year Barry and I traveled West Kansas. This is where we stopped and had our picnic lunch. It was a beautiful day and I loved sharing it with Barry. We really enjoy our weekend get aways.

Spring Ride

Now that Spring has arrived I have dusted off my bike and am trying to get into a routine again. Tonight I rode a little over 2 miles and got to see a lot of spring blooms. This is much nicer than walking on the treadmill - in the basement.

Clay is home

Clay arrived yesterday for his pre-deployment leave. Soon he'll leave for Afghanistan where he will spend a year. Tomorrow is his birthday so it will be nice to celebrate it and Easter while he is home.
